CSLTY, pronounced ‘Casualty’ is a Queens born, Bronx raised and currently New Jersey based electronic musician who first came into contact with the label through his collaborations with QRTR on her ‘infina ad nausea’ album. ‘Ritual’ track nine on QRTR’s sophomore LP features CSLTY on a jungle roller that thematically matches CSLTY’s new solo release ‘ESCAPISM’ set to release on Dome of Doom February 10th, with the lead single ‘THE DROP’ set for 2/2.

Originally CSLTY was working on music without a project in mind, experimenting with a lot of different sounds, beats and tempos. The artist felt they were in a bit of a funk so they kept themselves occupied making music. “The art of creating music is really therapeutic for me, I have a ton of songs that’ll never see the light of day but they still hold importance to me. It truly is an escape. Which is where the title comes from.”

CSLTY, legal name Anthony Rodriguez, draws a sonic inspiration from movie scores, soundtracks, and in general any music that can create a visual scene. Anthony states, “That’s what inspires me. So when I’m working on music, in my mind I’m also building a scene. Every project of mine is my own little independent film.”
The majority of the songs for ESCAPISM were produced in late 2021 and early 2022 at CSLTY’s home studio in Jersey. “I’m still using the same gear I’ve used on my last two projects, MASCHINE MK3 Mikro & the AKIA MPK mini. I’m not sure if maschine counts as a DAW but that’s where I go to construct a lot of my music. I use ableton here and there but maschine is really my bread and butter. I used a lot of synths, pads and soundscapes as well”

“Again, I’m heavily influenced by movie scores and soundtracks, so I definitely wanted to create some moods and scenes like I mentioned before but what really steered me in the direction of these particular songs is my collaboration with QRTR on her latest album ‘infina ad nausea’. We did a song called ‘Ritual’ together and it was so different from anything I'd ever done at the time and I really felt inspired by that whole process.”
ESCAPISM as a whole is hard hitting but also subtle in its arrangements.. Fast paced beats with low subdued atmospheric synths that flow like lush waves in between each kick and snare.
